Mitchell Elementary's Stick Policy

Students are asked to follow all school and classroom rules. Each student starts with three sticks each day: green, yellow, and red. If a child isn't following the rules, he or she may lose a stick or sticks. Losing a green stick is a warning for your child. If the yellow stick is lost, your child will lose recesses for that day. If a red stick is lost he/she will visit the principal and the parents/guardians will be called. Some behaviors can result in an automatic strike (all three sticks): lying to an adult, cheating, foul language, throwing rocks/snowballs, physical contact with another person, etc... We will do our best to let you know (in writing or phone call) if your child has lost two or more sticks.

PBIS Points!

At Mitchell Elementary, we use our PBIS points system to encourage and celebrate positive choices each day. Students earn points when they demonstrate our core values—Responsibility, Owning it, Accountability, and Respect—whether that’s following expectations, making good choices, taking responsibility for their actions, or showing kindness to others. These points help reinforce positive behavior and motivate students to continue making choices that create a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment for everyone.

At the end of each month, students get to make an exciting choice with their points! They may carry their points over to save for future rewards or cash them in at our school store for fun prizes, helping them learn goal-setting and decision-making along the way.
